3675385 - Duplicate profiles created during rehire with old employment

Symptom

  • Duplicate profiles are created when rehiring users with old employment in SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding.
  • After completing the onboarding process, searching for the user's name in the system displays two profiles: one active profile and one inactive (cancelled) profile.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Initiate onboarding for the user.
  2. In the Rehire Verification step, select “Rehire with Old Employment” and proceed.
  3. Complete the onboarding process for the old employment hire type.
  4. Once onboarding is completed, search for the user's name in the system.
  5. Two profiles appear in the search bar: one inactive (cancelled) profile and one active profile.

Cause

  • When onboarding is initiated, a new process and User ID are created for the user.
  • If “Rehire with Old Employment” is selected during the Rehire Verification step, the new process is automatically cancelled, and the onboarding is processed for the old employment.
  • The cancelled process remains stored in the system backend and is visible in the global search results.
  • This behavior is expected and is a result of system-triggered actions during the onboarding rehire verification process.

Resolution

  1. Identify the inactive Employee ID that corresponds to the cancelled process.
  2. Perform the DRTM Mater data purge to remove the duplicate record from the global search results.
