3676455 - Automatic material number generation using predefined format in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

• It is required to automatically generate material numbers in a predefined format (e.g., ABC00001, ABC00002, etc.) without manual input from users.
• Error message "Specify numeric interval limits" appears when letters are added to an internal number range interval.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition.

1. Open SSCUI 102282 "Define Number Ranges for Each Material Type".
2. Click on Edit Intervals.
3. Add letters to an internal number range interval.
4. Click enter.
5. Error message "Specify numeric interval limits" appears.

Internal number ranges are mandatory for automatic material number generation, and these ranges are restricted to numeric values only. 

As a result, automatic generation of material numbers with alphanumeric values is currently not supported.

Consider submitting an improvement request in the SAP Customer Influence Portal to request functionality for predefined formats including alphanumeric values.
