3676708 - Service Task Disappears After Changing Generate Period Plan Date in SAP Business ByDesign

The Service task is visible in the Resource Profile after generating the Period Plan. However, when the task end date is changed in the Generate Period Plan, the task disappears and the planned hours are no longer shown in the Resource Profile.  

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to the Project Management work center.
2. Search for and open the project.
3. Choose Edit and locate the relevant task.
4. Create a service for the task.
5. Edit the Period Plan for a future week (for example, 14-01-2026 to 18-01-2026).
6. Generate the Period Plan and verify that the task appears in the Resource Profile.
7. Edit the service again.
8. Change the end date in the Generate Period Plan to a past date (for example, 14-01-2026 to 16-01-2026).
9. Observe that the task disappears from the Resource Profile.

• The system redistributes planned hours only for future dates. When the task end date is changed to a past date, the system cannot process the redistribution, so the task is removed from the Resource Profile.
• This is expected system behavior. 

1. Go to the Project Management work center.
2. Open the Projects view and search for the relevant project.
3. Select the project and click Edit.
4. Navigate to the Period Plan section.
5. Update the end date and ensure it is set to a future date.
6. Choose Redistribute Planned Hours or Edit to adjust the planned hours.
7. Save the changes.
8. Verify that the service task is displayed correctly in the Resource Profile.

     Note: Resource planning supports only future dates. Planning or redistribution of hours for past dates is not supported.
