Symptom

When trying to login via SSO link or click an external link inside SSO navigation container via SAP Excel Add-in, Internet Explorer is opened instead of the system default browser.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open Excel.
  2. Switch to SAP Business ByDesign Tab.
  3. Click Logon.
  4. Input SSO URL and login.
  5. In the pop-up SSO Navigation container, click any hyperlink which may navigate to an external page.
  6. Internet Explorer opens instead of the default browser.

Cause

This is a designed system behavior.

Resolution

SSO navigation container in Excel Add-in is built on top of Internet Explorer, which causes external links to open in Internet Explorer regardless of the system's default browser settings.
