3677723 - Exported file names from 'display line items in general ledger' app differ based on user behavior with regard to timestamp

Symptom

  • Exported file names, typically excel files, from the Display line items in General Ledger app differ depending on user behavior.
  • Some users receive file names such as 'Line items' or 'Line items (1)'.xslx, while others receive file names with a timestamp appended.

Environment

Transaction Apps (Public Cloud)

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open the Display line items in General Ledger app.
  2. Generate some data within the application.
  3. Export the data.
  4. Observe the file name generated upon export.
  5. Some file names have a timestamp included and some do not depending on user.

Cause

The behavior is determined by the file system or browser settings. When a large number of files with the same name exist in the download folder, the system or browser appends a timestamp to the file name to differentiate it from existing files. This typically occurs after there are 100 files with the same name in the download folder.

Resolution

  1. Verify the number of files with the same name in the download folder of the browser being used.
  2. If there are many files with the same name, delete or move them to another location to avoid automatic timestamp appending.
  3. Inform users that the timestamp addition is a behavior of the browser or file system and not controlled by the SAP application.
