3678166 - Restriction on Numeric Input for DUNS Field

Symptom

The system restricts modifications to the DUNS field, allowing only numeric values ranging from 0-9.



Environment

SAP Business ByDesign 

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Account Management work center.
  2. Go to Accounts view. 
  3. Select the account and click Edit. 
  4. Attempt to modify the D-U-N-S field to include alphanumeric characters.
  5. Observe that the system prompts to maintain numeric values ranging from 0-9 only.

Cause

  • The customer attempted to modify the DUNS number to include alphanumeric characters. 
  • The system restricts the DUNS field to numeric values only.

Resolution

  • The DUNS Number is an identification code applicable exclusively to companies registered in the United States.
  • It is stored in the Company Profile and serves as an international identifier.
  • The DUNS field is restricted to numeric values ranging from 0-9 and cannot be modified to include alphanumeric characters.
