3678233 - An Updated Purchase Order sent via XML instead of printer

Symptom

A purchase order was updated and was sent via XML instead of the printer as maintained in the Edit Output Setting of the purchase order.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Navigate to the Purchase Request and Order work center.
  2. Open the Purchase Order View.
  3. Search for and open the relevant purchase order.
  4. Check the Output History: the Changed PO template was used by XML instead of Printer as maintained in the Edit Output Setting of the purchase order.

Cause

  • XML is not a standard output channel but can be maintained on supplier level
  • On the creating of PO XML triggering to update to the Supplier.
  • After modify PO and selecting output channel as Printer/Do not send and click on send update button then also xml is triggering to send update notification/updated PO details (Qty, delivery Date) to the Supplier.
  • Send update button will trigger xml based on past output history if xml is already triggered.

Resolution

This is Standard BYD system behaviour.

An alternative would be instead of maintaining XML output channel overgoing the SAP Standard behaviour on supplier level, consider not to use XML as initial output channel if changed or cancelled PO's
