Symptom
You have received a notification stating that your ByD Tenant (M) certificate will expire soon or that the certificate has been renewed
Environment
SAP Business byDesign
Reproducing the Issue
You can receive a notification in various locations:
- A case in the Application and User Management work center, under cases view.
- A Notification task in the task bar under the Notification icon.
- An e-mail directly to the designated IT Contact Person listed first in the Service Control Center work center.
Cause
SAP has a background job that keeps a check on the validity period of the ByD tenant (M) certificate. This job runs at the start of every month and if the tenant certificate (SAP Business By Design System Key Pair) is going to expire in the next 62 days, it will automatically renew the certificate and triggers the notifications with the subject 'Tenant Certificate has been renewed'.
If the expiration date is between 60–90 days from the job's run date, then it will trigger the notification to inform the customer that the certificate will be renewed in the next job run.
Resolution
Each SAP Business ByDesign tenant is provisioned with a tenant certificate issued by the SAP Passport CA. The validity period of the tenant certificate is 1 year. For the functioning of the communications relying on the tenant certificate, it's mandatory to upload the valid certificate after renewal every year to the relevant target systems.
You can view the tenant certificate from Application and User Management Common Tasks Edit Certificate Trust List View Tenant Certificate.
You can download the tenant certificate from Application and User Management Communication Certificates Download Tenant Certificate.
To know the options to Renew Certificate, refer to Help Center Renewal of Tenant Certificate
There is an upcoming renewal in the month of November, refer to blog Renewal of M-user / Tenant certificate in ByD
