3679732 - "This employee does not have a budget holder" error when trying to nominate for an award

When trying to nominate a user for a spot award, you encounter an error message:

"This employee does not have a budget holder."

• SAP SuccessFactors Reward & Recognition
• SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite 

1. Proxy as the user attempting to nominate.
2. Navigate to 'Recognize and Reward someone'.
3. Select the person to nominate
4. Select the Award and Category
5. Enter the award amount and provide reasoning for the award.
6. Press Send
7. Encounter the error message: "Sorry, This employee does not have a budget holder".

This error occurs when a manager tries to nominate someone underneath them.

The system checks all managers in the hierarchy and their budgets while a manager is giving a spot award.

If a manager in the hierarchy does not have a budget assigned or is inactive, the system cannot find a valid budget holder and raises the error.

To resolve this error, please carry out one of the following options:

1) Confirm all managers are included in the budget file: 

• Navigate to Reward and Recognition.
• Select on Manage Spot Award Programmes.
• Select the program you want to nominate someone in.
• Choose the Budget tab
• Under Export Budget, download and open the file.
• Inspect the BUDGET_HOLDER column to ensure all managers are listed and have a BUDGET_AMOUNT.

2) Verify the Manager Hierarchy: 

• Download the UDF and examine the nominator's manager and their manager.
• If any manager has someone above them who is inactive, either set their manager to NO_MANAGER or activate them.

3) Review Custom Manager Hierarchy:
