Symptom

Assignment profile execution resulted in the error: "transaction rolled back by lock wait timeout: TrexColumnUpdate failed on table '####_PROD_TMS:PA_STUD_QUAL' with error".

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Navigate to background jobs in SAP SuccessFactors Learning.
  2. Search for jobs run by User for Assignment Profile
  3. Observe the error message: "transaction rolled back by lock wait timeout: TrexColumnUpdate failed on table '####_PROD_TMS:PA_STUD_QUAL' with error".

Cause

The error occurred due to simultaneous scheduling of long-running operations related to curricula while the Assignment Profile job was running, leading to conflicts in the database operations.

Resolution

  1. Avoid scheduling other long-running operations related to curricula while the Assignment Profile job is running.
  2. Ensure that Assignment Profile jobs are scheduled during times when no other conflicting operations are planned to run.
  3. If the issue persists, report it to SAP Support for further investigation.
