Symptom
Labor Distribution (LD)
The use of LD is a key component of WorkForce Time and Attendance, though it has changed over the years. Originally, the related tables and fields were intended for use with Labor Distribution, tracking key information associated with time on the time sheet. However, now the use of these tables and fields are much broader, and so they are just generally referred to as LD Fields and Tables, due to the shorthand still seen in the database and configuration.
There are three main uses of LD in the system, though there are many other possibilities.
- Allow for easy selection of data at the TS. For example, allowing a user to select the Project or Cost Center for a specific time entry, or to specify their Department and Activity as seen in the example below.

- Store information in tables for easy reference or comparison in formula language. For example, storing pay rates for individuals or tasks, or storing key dates for fiscal years.

- Additional reference or lookup information for reports, scripts, and similar. For example, storing key emails or contacts by department for notifications sent out by a script, or holding the current representative contact info to add to a generated report.
