3681765 - Search functionality behavior in SAP SuccessFactors Learning Enhanced Library

Symptom

  • When performing "Browse All" from the learning homepage without entering a keyword in the search field, the system successfully returns results. Also,
  • When a keyword is entered into the search field and the Search button is clicked, relevant training courses are displayed.
  • However, If the keyword is removed and the Search button is clicked again, the system remains stuck in the keyword search and does not return any results.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Access SuccessFactors.
  2. Navigate to Learning module
  3. Click "Browse Library" without entering a keyword in the search field. Results are returned.
  4. Enter a keyword in the search field and click the Search button. Relevant results are displayed.
  5. Clear the keyword from the search field and click the Search button. No results appear, and the system remains stuck in the keyword search. 

Cause

This behavior is identified as the system's expected functionality. 

Resolution

  • When using the `Search (Magnifying glass)` option without entering a keyword, the system does not perform a "Browse Library" action. The ability to browse the entire library is exclusively available via the "Browse All" button located on the learning homepage. 
  • Once a keyword is entered in the search field, the system will focus on that specific search. If the keyword is later removed, the system will not revert to a browse-all state. To reset and access the browse-all functionality, you would need to return to the learning homepage and use the "Browse All" button.
  • The "Search (Magnifying Glass)" feature requires a minimum of two characters as a keyword to generate relevant results. A blank search will not return any results on the search page.
