Symptom
-
The Demand Plan shows zero forecast values, even though historical purchase orders, receipts, or dependent demands exist for the product.
- Additionally, dependent demand visible in Supply Planning is not reflected as actuals in the Demand Plan.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Navigate to the Demand Planning Work Center.
- Go to the Demand Plans view.
- Select the relevant demand plan and click the plan button.
- Choose Planning Board Layout to maximal layout.
- Observe that all values are zero.
- Navigate to Supply Planning Work Center.
- Go to the Products view.
- Search for the relevant product and relevant supply area.
- Click go.
- Observe that there are (Purchase / Production) dependent demands for the product.
Cause
- There are three types of dependent demands: Stock Transfer proposals, Purchase proposals, and Production proposals.
- Only Stock Transfer Proposal dependent demands are considered for historical data in the demand plan.
-
This is due to the system design:
Stock Transfer Proposals represent actual demand.
Purchase Proposals and Production Proposals represent supply actions, created to fulfil demand.
Resolution
- This behavior is standard system design.
- Only Stock Transfer Proposal dependent demands are considered for historical data in the demand plan.
