3681931 - Error M3836 - No Cost Estimate Number Could Be Assigned During Product Migration

Symptom

During product migration, users encounter the error message:
M3836 No cost estimate number could be assigned.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Cause

The migration process fails to generate the initial cost estimate number (KALNR) correctly.
Additionally, there is no data found in the following relevant tables:

  • CKMLKALNR
  • MBEW
  • CKMLHD

The exact root cause of the error is currently unknown.

Resolution

As a temporary workaround, perform the following steps:

  1. Create a new material with the Accounting 1 view in the system.
  2. Alternatively, extend an existing material with the Accounting 1 view.
  3. Restart the migration process.
