3682327 - Unable to change the Valuation Category for Materials in Change Material (MM02) app - SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

• Error when changing Valuation Category for Materials in Change Material (MM02) app.
• Error: "The valuation category cannot be changed for the following reasons: Valuation data already exists for valuation types that are not compatible with the new valuation category."

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

1. Open the Change Material (MM02) app.
2. Locate the relevant material.
3. Navigate to the Accounting1 view.
4. Clear the Valuation Category field.
5. Error message appears: "The valuation category cannot be changed for the following reasons: Valuation data already exists for valuation types that are not compatible with the new valuation category."

The valuation category can only be changed if the valuation type no longer exists for the material.

Delete or archive the valuation type for the material.

1. Use the Manage Product Master Data (F1602) app to enter the material.
2. Set the deletion flag on the Valuation Type field.
3. The data will be removed during the next archiving run.
