3682497 - Exchange Rate Used To Clear Open Items

Symptom

There is a currency difference in the cash disbursement journal entry.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  • Go to General Ledger work center.
  • Go to Journal Entries view.
  • Search for the relevant journal entry ID: ABC (ABC represents the journal entry ID).
  • The journal entry type is: Cash Disbursement, and the expectation is to use ask rate: AAA (AAA represents the exchange rate figure), however, mid rate: BBB is used (BBB represents the exchange rate figure).

Cause

Check default exchange rate:

  1. Go to the General Ledger work center.
  2. Open the Edit Exchange Rates view in the Common Tasks section.
  3. Can see rate type: 001 Default exchange rate type, ask rate: AAA is maintained, mid rate: BBB is maintained.

Check Currency Conversion Profile:

  1. Go to the Business Configuration work center.
  2. Select the view Overview.
  3. Search and find the activity Currency Conversion Profiles.
  4. Select the relevant Currency Conversion Profile: 0001.
  5. Select the relevant Business Transaction Type: Cash Disbursement, can see conversion type is maintained as ask rate; Conversion date: posting date.

Due to transaction currency and book currency are same, there is no exchange rate applied on cash disbursement.

The exchange rate applied is in the payment screen (before posting) which causes the currency difference, under the open items list, for open items like supplier invoice (which is having foreign currency), the system is displaying the currency conversion information only and this currency conversion information will pick only the default exchange rate and its mid rate only, even if maintaining ask rate, system will pick only mid rate.

Resolution

There is no configuration to modify this setup as this is system standard design.
