3682513 - Custom CDS View Preview Fails with Runtime Error and “Unable to Load the Data” Message

When trying to preview the custom CDS view, the preview keeps loading and then fails with a runtime error with "Unable to load the data" message.

Runtime Error: 'RAISE_SHORTDUMP'. The OData request processing has been abnormally terminated. Analyze the runtime error using Feed Reader in ABAP development tools for Eclipse or using transaction /IWFND/ERROR_LOG or /IWBEP/ERROR_LOG or ST22. Create a support ticket on the application component of the OData service for errors in services delivered by SAP 

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

1. Open "Custom CDS View" application
2. Search for YY1_CDS_VIEW 
3. Click the button "Preview Data"
4. There are parameters to fill in but in 'Preview Data' not every field is required.
5. The data fetch will fail with a RAISE_SHORTDUMP

The "Runtime Error" occurs because the custom CDS view has mandatory parameters, and the preview fails when all required parameters are not filled.

The preview functionality in custom CDS views currently does not display parameter fields as mandatory. This is a known issue, and an enhancement to the parameters dialog is planned for the 2602 release.

As a workaround, 

• The custom CDS view can be previewed using the "Customer Data Browser" application, where parameter fields are enforced as mandatory.
• To preview data using the custom CDS view "Preview" functionality, all parameter fields must be filled in.
