Symptom
The customer reported that the percentage symbol (%) was not being displayed in the system when viewing fields that should show percentage values.
Environment
SAP successFactors Compensation
Reproducing the Issue
Pre-requisite:
A Custom Translation is enabled in Admin Center > Manage Languages, and the translation key responsible for the percentage label (e.g., "Percent") is blank or incorrectly defined for the affected language.
Steps to Reproduce:
-
Log into the system using the language for which the Custom Translation is applied.
-
Navigate to any area where percentage values should normally be displayed (e.g., Compensation fields).
-
Observe that the % symbol is missing from the UI.
-
Go to Admin Center > Manage Languages and open the Custom Translation for the affected locale.
-
Verify that the translation key (e.g., "Percent") is empty or improperly maintained, causing the system not to display the symbol.
Cause
The issue occurs due to a Custom Translation maintained under Admin Center > Manage Languages for the affected language.
The translation key responsible for the percentage label (such as "Percent") is left blank or incorrectly defined.
When this key has no valid translation, the system is unable to render the % symbol, resulting in it not being displayed in the UI.
Resolution
-
Temporarily disable the Custom Translation for the affected language to confirm the root cause (the % symbol should display correctly once the override is deactivated).
-
In Admin Center > Manage Languages, update the translation key responsible for the percentage label (for example, "Percent") to ensure it is not blank or incorrectly defined.
-
Save the changes and re-enable the Custom Translation if needed.
After updating the translation entry, the percentage symbol will display correctly throughout the system.
