Symptom
- Validation warning message is not triggered when a field update is performed via an external integration system.
- The validation warning message is triggered only when the field is manually updated or when any other field is changed after the integration system update.
Environment
SAP Sales Cloud and SAP Service Cloud Version 2
Reproducing the Issue
- Create a validation rule with a warning message to trigger based on a field change.
- Perform a field update via an external integration system.
- Observe that the validation warning message is not triggered.
- Manually change the same field or any other field after the integration system update.
- Observe that the validation warning message is triggered.
Cause
- Validations are triggered on the "Save" event with respect to the executing user.
- When the update is performed by the integration system, the user making the change is an integration user, and the validation message is returned only for that user.
- The validation message is not visible to the user logged into the screen where the field is updated.
Resolution
- This is current expected system behavior.
- Validation messages are not persistent and are only visible to the executing user in direct response to the action triggered from their end.
