3684764 - Error CJ055: WBS Element has an account assignment and cannot be deleted in Project Planning app SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public

When attempting to delete a WBS element in the 'Project Planning' app, the error message "CJ055: WBS element has an account assignment and cannot be deleted" is displayed.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

1. Open a project using the app 'Project Control - Enterprise Projects'.
2. Navigate to the 'Project Planning' app.
3. Click 'Edit' and select a WBS element for deletion.
4. Click on 'Delete' and save the changes.

The system design validates all WBS elements within a project for any accounting documents posted. If any WBS element within the project has postings related to plan data, budget, commitments, or actuals, the system restricts the deletion of the WBS element within that project.

• As an alternate the recommendation would be to changing the status of WBS element to 'Lock', this will prevent any further postings against the WBS element.
• Once the project is closed, the WBS elements can be set to 'Complete'.
