3685530 - No longer able to view VRP statements or individual view - Variable Pay

Symptom

The statements are no longer visible in the Variable Pay Statements, Combined Statements, or Individual View Portlet, despite no changes having been made to permissions.

Environment

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Navigate to an employee's profile
  2. Search for either the Variable Pay Statements, Combined Statements, or Individual View Portlet
  3. Statements are no longer available or in the Individual View it is but only a blank page is visible when opening it

Cause

This behavior, where statements no longer appear, is triggered when the feature “View generated Variable Pay Statements, Variable Pay Individual View, and Combined Statements based on Role-Based Permissions” is disabled in Company Settings under Action for All Plans, combined with a wildcard permission defined in the Data Model. Disabling this feature causes statement visibility to rely solely on the Data Model.

Resolution

Using a wildcard as a permission in the Data Model is not supported and is not considered a best practice, as it can allow employees to access other employees’ statements. A wildcard grants access to anyone, which introduces security risks. Because of this, the Engineering team released a patch after the 2H 2025 release to ensure the system ignores wildcard permissions.

To properly configure your permissions, you can choose one of the following options:

  • Go to Manage Business Configuration → Standard, locate the statement fields, and assign specific roles to each one instead of using a wildcard.

  • Enable the feature “View generated Variable Pay Statements, Variable Pay Individual View, and Combined Statements based on Role-Based Permissions” under Action for All Plans → Company Settings, and ensure the appropriate Statement Permissions are configured under Employee Data permissions.
