This KBA provides an overview of the restrictions of the Customer Return (A2X) OData V4 API in S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition.

Currently supported scopes:

Since CE2408, the initial version of the Customer Return (A2X) OData V4 API was delivered. In the subsequent releases, the functionality of the Customer Return (A2X) OData V4 API continues to be enhanced and this API is made as the successor to the Customer Return (A2X) OData V2 API. In the future, new functionalities will only be added to the Customer Return (A2X) OData V4 API.

• Since CE2502, besides the entities that constitute a returns order, "Read" operation for "variant configuration" and "returns process steps" are supported.
• Since CE2508, "create with reference" functionality is supported.
• Since CE2602, "serial number entity" will be supported.

Known limitations or constraints:

There are some known limitations or constraints in the Customer Return (A2X) OData V4 API due to business design or framework technical restrictions. This KBA is used to cover these limitations and constraints.

Limitation 1: Limited fields accept initial (empty) value

To enhance data integrity and quality, since CE2602, data validation is tightened. Only the following fields of the respective entities accept an initial value in the payload of the OData V4 API requests. For other fields, initial value in the payload is not supported. If expecting values of those fields to be determined by the backend business logic or to be filled with a default value, those fields should not be included in the OData V4 payload.
