Symptom

With recent upgrade to S4Hana error "FF450 -Tax is active line-by-line but tax item number is incorrect" or "FF451- Tax item number is incorrect for direct tax line" is encountered while posting with BAPI_ACC_DOCUMENT_POST or Idoc which includes tax relevant data with line-by-line tax activated.
