3686397 - Duplicate records error while submitting a candidate from Manage Pending Hires > Onboarding

An error occurs when submitting a hire from Manage Pending Hire > Onboarding.

• Error message: "There are duplicate records with the same value for the following fields: Sequence Number, Pay Component, User ID. Compare them and remove the one you don't need."

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central - Suite Integration, Onboarding

1. Navigate to Manage Pending Hire > Onboarding.
2. Select the candidate.
3. Complete all the sections for the candidate
4. Click on "Submit".
5. Error occurs: "There are duplicate records with the same value for the following fields: Sequence Number, Pay Component, User ID. Compare them and remove the one you don't need."

• The issue occurs when a user completes the NHDR or Access New Hire Data steps without having Compensation Information permissions and there is a business rule configured to create Compensation Information.
• This scenario leads to the creation of duplicate Compensation Information time slices, resulting in the error.

Engineering has planned to fix the behavior in the next 1H 2026 release as part of the enhancement - OBX-38988. In the meanwhile, please follow the below workaround:

Workaround: 

1. Verify the Compensation Information permissions for the users who completed the NHDR or Access New Hire Data steps.
2. Ensure that users performing NHDR/PDC steps have Compensation Information permissions.
3. Identify the business rule creating Compensation Information and set its Onboarding Rule Context to "No" to prevent it from triggering during the onboarding stage.
4. If duplicate Compensation Information records exist, request SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding Engineering to run a script to delete the duplicate entries.
