3687010 - Error "File must be smaller than 10 MB, with no more than 1000 rows of data" in apps within the "Import Sales Documents" app

Symptom

Unable to import sales orders with more than 1000 rows using the "Import Sales Orders" app (or any other apps within the "Import Sales Documents" app). Receive the error "File must be smaller than 10 MB, with no more than 1000 rows of data".

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Cause

To ensure optimal system performance and usability, apps within the "Import Sales Documents" app are designed to process imported Excel files with a maximum size of 10 MB and no more than 1000 rows. This limitation aligns with the core Sales and Distribution functionality, as SAP recommends keeping sales documents under 1000 line items. Exceeding this threshold may lead to performance challenges and increased processing times due to the complexity of linking each line item to multiple tables, such as scheduling lines, costing, variant configuration, document flow, and status.

Resolution

Based on the current design as per explained in the "Cause" section, the suggestion is to reduce the rows to lower than 1000 in the imported Excel file (keeping it smaller than 10 MB) and create multiple sales orders via multiple Excel files.
