3687598 - Characteristic contains invalid characters when running a CDS view query, but the value in the error message is valid

Symptom

When running a CDS view query, the following error happens:
Value 'XXX' (hex. 'XXX') of characteristic 2CXXX contains invalid characters 
BRAIN 060

But the value in the error message is valid and the value could show correctly in SE16N.
