Symptom
Visits are in "Open" status while the "Out of Range Check-In" indicator is set to "Yes". You expect the status to change if a check-in has happened.
Environment
SAP Cloud for Customer
Reproducing the Issue
- Navigate to the work center Visits > Visits.
- Open a visit.
- Observe that the visit is in "Open" status while the "Out of Range Check-In" indicator is set to "Yes".
- Attempt a check-in; the system throws an error indicating "Visit has not been checked in within XXX meters of the Account" (XXX is the distance maintained in your business configuration for out of range check ins).
- Refresh the visit screen and observe that the "Out of Range Check-In" indicator remains "Yes" for the "Open" visit.
Cause
In the standard features of C4C, the "Out of Range Check-In" flag is only informational and does not block the check-in process. When a user checks in outside the configured geofence radius, the system marks the visit as "Out of Range", but the check-in is still allowed.
Resolution
If the status automation (Open -> In Process) is not configured or has been overridden by custom rules, the visit remains in Open status even after check-in.
To include the status automation in your scoping, the following question is relevant:
- Go to the work center Business Configuration > Implementation Projects.
- Edit the scope of the relevant project.
- Go to step 4 - Questions.
- Expand the following nodes: Sales > Account and Activity Management > Activity Management.
- In the business options, ensure to scope the following question: Upon checking into a visit, do you want to update the visit status to "In Process"?
