Symptom
- The validity date of the material status is not correctly considered when creating a sales order with reference to a quotation or another sales order.
- The system copies materials with the status "obsolete" into the new sales order without displaying a warning or error message.
- The following error message should be observed but is not: "Message no. V1028".
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Reproducing the Issue
- Create a sales order with reference to a quotation or another sales order.
- Observe that the system copies materials with the status "obsolete" into the new sales order.
- Note that no warning or error message is displayed during the process.
Cause
The system checks the validity of the material using the Schedule Line Date for the item in the sales order. If this date falls outside the 'Valid from' date configured in the material master, no message will be raised.
Whether the message is raised as a Warning or an Error depends on which Distribution-chain-specific material status is selected in the material master.
Resolution
The schedule line date is the relevant metric, as the 'Distribution-chain-specific material status' should reflect the materials deliverable status, not the document creation date.
Check the sales order schedule line date for the item and ensure that it is valid.
