• The Manage Purchase Orders app does not provide an option to manually enter the Purchase Order number.
• The error message displayed is "Internal number assignment not defined (please enter number). Message no. 06243"

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

1. Navigate to the Fiori App - "Manage Purchase Orders".
2. Click on "Create".
3. Select "Z1" from the "Purchase Order Type" dropdown (Z1 represents the custom PO type).
4. Observe the error message: "Internal number assignment not defined (please enter number). Message no. 06243 "

Z1 doesn't have "NoRgeInt" number assignment and the Manage Purchase Orders app does not support external number ranges.

• There are two types of number assignment:

  • Internal number assignment occurs automatically in the R/3 System. When storing a data record, the R/3 System assigns a sequential number, which lies in the relevant number range interval.
  • External number assignment is performed either by the user or an external system. The number is assigned by the user or by an external system, both of which must ensure that the number lies in the relevant number range interval.
• Hence, internal number assignment is mandatory for data records, please add an entry in "NoRgeInt" for Z1.
• To manually enter the external Purchase Order number, please use app Create Purchase Order - Advanced instead of Manage Purchase Orders.
