3689076 - SAC Excel add-in disappears after internet connection is interrupted

Symptom

The SAC Excel add-in tab disappears from the ribbon when the internet connection is interrupted or lost.

Error message: "Destination host is unavailable" may appear during the refresh the workbook due to missing network connection.

Environment

SAP Analytics Cloud, add-in for Microsoft Office

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Connect to the SAC Excel add-in.
  2. Open a data source or workbook.
  3. Internet connection gets lost.
  4. Refresh the workbook.

Cause

The SAC Excel add-in is cloud-based software and requires a stable internet connection. 

Resolution

  1. Ensure a stable internet connection while using the SAC Excel add-in.
  2. If the SAC Excel add-in disappears after internet lost:
    a. Close all open Excel files and restart Excel.
    b. If restarting Excel does not restore the SAC Excel add-in, clear the add-in cache following the step 5 Clear the add-in cache in the SAP documentation.
