3689193 - Error "An error occurred while retrieving the authentication code from SharePoint." when trying to create Sharepoint connection in SAC.

Symptom

The following error "An error occurred while retrieving the authentication code from SharePoint." occurs when trying to create a Sharepoint connection in SAC.

Environment

  • SAP Analytics Cloud.
  • Sharepoint site.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Login to SAC.
  2. Go to connections.
  3. Add a new Import connection to SharePoint.
    >> Notice the following error “An error occurred while retrieving the authentication code from SharePoint. Correlation ID: 27043397581849278647713272150773”

 

Cause

The user creating the connection have no admin rights in the SharePoint site or is not its owner.

Resolution

Additionally, to the following permissions mentioned in the KBA 3469382 - Configuration details for Consuming Sharepoint Data in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), the user creating the connection in SAC needs to be the owner or assigned to the admin role in the SharePoint site.
