3689717 - Material number not updating in posted journal entry

Symptom

When using template to upload journal postings in App Upload General Journal Entries (F2548), the Material Number field is maintained in the template.

After uploading the template and posting the journal entry, the material number does not appear in the posted document.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition 2508

Reproducing the Issue

Open App Upload General Journal Entries (F2548)
Maintain the Material Number (MATNR) field in the template
Upload the template and post the journal entry
Open App Display Line Items in General Ledger (F2217)
Material Number column is not shown in the posted document

Cause

Template based file was used incorrectly. Technical name for material to be updated in field MATNR, in the template is MATNR_EXT.

Resolution

Add a column to the downloaded template for technical name MATNR_EXT , field "External Long Material Number (40)".
