Symptom
- Notification types remain visible in the personalization settings of the Fiori Launchpad even after deleting unnecessary or invalid notification types.
- Email notification channels are pre-activated by default, causing a large volume of emails to be sent to users after the first exception run.
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Reproducing the Issue
- Open User Profile > Settings in the upper right corner of the Fiori Launchpad.
- Navigate to "Notifications" and observe the entries.
Resolution
The entries on the Notification Personalization settings are created when you receive a notification of that type for the first time. After that the entries are not deleted. This is by design.
Once, you get a notification of a certain notification type which you didn't have until yet, it will then start showing on the Notification Personalization window on Fiori Launchpad. Once, you have possessed a type of notification it will be present in the Personalization window even though if you currently do not have any notifications of that type and thereby enabling you to personalize that type of notifications for future.
There is no option to delete any particular entry from the notification personalization window. This is by design to remember users choices of email sending, mobile notifications sending, etc. which they have chosen once they have received a particular type of notification. So, that they don't have to again configure their choice each time they receive a notification of that type. If we delete this entry then all their choices are deleted with it.
The emails have been enabled by default for Notification types capable of sending emails. This is by design and by popular customer demand to enable email sending by default. If you want to disable email sending, then you can do so from the Notification personalization settings window for that particular notification type.
