Symptom
- The display format does not appear in the National ID field when a business rule is used to default the National ID Card Type field during the hiring process.
- The format is displayed correctly when adding the National ID directly, but not when pre-populated by the business rule.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central - Add New Employee
Reproducing the Issue
- Configure a business rule to default National ID Information for the "Add New Employee" page.
- Navigate to the "Add New Employee" page.
- Fill in the mandatory fields and proceed to the National ID Information section.
- Observe that the rule works and the fields are pre-filled, but the display format is not shown in the National ID field.
Resolution
This is expected behavior as the Oninit rules will not trigger the field format in current system design.
Engineering team will change behavior with new Add New Employee for the Latest People Profile experience in future releases which will change this behavior and format will be correctly set even after oninit rule.
This new hire experience is target to be delivered on 2H 2026 however please track status of this enhancement with CSM or your account owner: ECT-248247
Workaround: Reselect the value in the field to reset the format manually.
