3691018 - ALV export ('Excel – in existing XXL format') converts dates (dd.mm.yyyy) to text (yyyymmdd)

Symptom

When exporting an ALV using the "Excel – in existing XXL format" option, date columns displayed in SAP as dd.mm.yyyy are exported as text in the form yyyymmdd in the resulting Excel file. Excel therefore treats those cells as text rather than dates, preventing sorting, filtering or date calculations.
