3691497 - Duration Field Not Displayed When Requesting Leave Through Ms Teams

When requesting Time Off via MS Teams or Mobile, the Duration field is not displayed and the message “Duration not Available” appears.

The request cannot be submitted while this message is shown.

This behavior occurs only for certain Time Types where the Requesting Field is configured as read-only.

SAP SuccessFactors – Employee Central Time Off

1. Log in to SAP SuccessFactors using MS Teams integration.
2. Attempt to request leave using the "Requesting" field.
3. Observe that the duration field displays the message "Duration not Available".
4. Compare the behavior by requesting leave through the browser UI or mobile application, where the duration field displays correctly.

When a validation error occurs during the time-off request (for example, balance validation or rule-based restrictions), the system suppresses the display of the Duration field and shows the message “Duration not Available.”

For Time Types where the requesting field is editable, users can manually change the value to clear validation issues. However, when the time type is configured with a read-only requesting field, there is no manual input option. Under the existing system logic, the Duration field is therefore hidden whenever any blocking error is present, and is displayed only after all error messages are resolved.

This causes the duration to remain unavailable until the underlying error condition is cleared.

The behavior is working as designed under the current logic.

An enhancement has been planned by Engineering to optimize this user experience so that the handling of the “Duration not Available” message and the display logic of the Duration field for time types with a read-only requesting field are improved.

This enhancement is being tracked by your CSM under ticket WRK-3785 and is planned for delivery before the 2601 release.

Until the enhancement is delivered, the recommended action is to:
    •    Review and resolve any blocking validation or balance errors preventing the time-off request from being submitted, after which the Duration field will display automatically.
    •    Validate the configuration of the relevant Time Type and business rules to ensure no incorrect restrictions are triggering the error state.
