3691919 - Deletion of Cost Center Categories not supported in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Symptom

  • In the configuration SSCUI 102498 “Define Cost Center Categories”  some lines need to be removed to align with updated business requirements.
  • The current configuration includes lines that are no longer required, potentially leading to inconsistent reporting and cost center management processes, incorrect allocations, and financial inaccuracies.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Navigate to the configuration SSCUI 102498 “Define Cost Center Categories”.
  2. Attempt to delete lines some lines

Cause

SAP follows a consistent design principle across its configuration objects, where deletion is typically not allowed through standard applications. This approach is intended to maintain the integrity of configuration data by preventing the removal of elements that may hold historical importance or could be referenced in the future.

Resolution

The category name can be modified to reflect its inactive status by having terms such as “OBSOLETE” or “DO NOT USE” added. In this way, the category is clearly marked as no longer in use while its historical data is preserved.
