3692546 - Unable to Assign G/L Account Ranges to Semantic Tags in “Assign Semantic Tags to Financial Statement Versions”

Symptom

When using the app Assign Semantic Tags to Financial Statement Versions, it's not possible to assign a semantic tag to a G/L account range (e.g. 10000000 - 10999999).

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud

Cause

The system behaves as expected.

Resolution

There are two supported options depending on the reporting requirement.

Option A: Assign the semantic tag at the FSV item level
If all accounts under an FSV node should share the same semantic tag, choose the method “Assign Semantic Tag to FS Item”. All G/L accounts under that node inherit the tag automatically.

Option B: Remove the account range from the FSV and maintain accounts individually
If different accounts within a previously ranged node require different semantic tags, open Manage Financial Statement Versions or Manage Global Hierarchies, delete the account range from the relevant node, and list the individual G/L accounts instead. After this, semantic tags can be assigned to each individual account as required.
