Symptom
- When selecting "add new employee to this position," the hire date is auto-populated to today's date and the hire date field is read-only.
- The hire date field is not editable.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central
Reproducing the Issue
- Navigate to the Position Org Chart in SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central.
- Select "add new employee to this position."
- Observe that the hire date is auto-populated to today's date and the hire date field is read-only.
Cause
This is as per current system design.
Resolution
- Note that the hire date displayed is determined by the "As of date" selected in the Position Org Chart, located at the top right corner of the page.
- To modify the hire date:
- a. Update the "As of date" in the Position Org Chart.
- b. Once the employee is hired, the updated date will reflect as the hire date.
- If the position's effective start date is too restrictive:
- a. Navigate to the Position Details page.
- b. Update the position's effective start date to the earliest required date (requires admin rights).
- c. Save changes and return to the hiring action.
- For new hires, ensure the correct hiring action is selected (e.g., "New Hire" instead of "Transfer/Rehire").
- Once the date field is unlocked, select a date from the calendar picker or type it in the required format (e.g., DD/MM/YYYY or MM/DD/YYYY). Ensure the date is on or after the position's effective start date.
