Symptom
- Benefits with opt-out selections are not updating in the benefit enrollment area.
- Enrollment is continuing into 2026 without an end date for inactive status.
- When employees opt out of a benefit for the upcoming benefit year (2026), the benefit End Date field is not updated, retaining the 12/31/9999 date.
- Issue resulted for employee confirmation statements incorrectly show benefits as continuing into 2026 instead of terminating at the end of 2025.
Environment
- SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central
- Global Benefits Module
Reproducing the Issue
- Engage in Open Enrollment for a current employee.
- Select the Opt-Out option for a given benefit for the upcoming benefit year (2026) that the employee has enrolled in for the current benefit year (2025).
- Observe that the current year's benefit does not have an end date inserted and remains as 12/31/9999, causing the benefit to continue beyond 12/31/2025.
Cause
- The operation is being treated as Waive instead of Opt-out, hence not terminating the existing enrollment.
Resolution
- The code-fix has been checked in and will be available with the 1H2026 release.
- A patch for the fix is planned for release 2511. Updates related to the patch will be available via the code correction ticket.
- The code-fix will prevent this issue going ahead, for users who opt-out after the availability of this fix. For users who have already opted out and have the issue with the non-terminated enrollment: data for such users will have to be corrected manually.
Note : For the users who selected Optout and submitted at the same time, the enrollment data is expected to be correct. The issue would be for those users selected Optout and clicked Next, but didn't submit the selection at the same time but later. For such users, follow below steps to rectify the data:
1. From Manage Data, look up the existing enrollment and manually insert an Inactive enrollment time-slice effective from the validity start date of the period from which they opted out (i.e, 1/1/2026); The existing enrollment will correspondingly get delimited with the correct end date. This can also be done via importing the inactive enrollments.
2. Also, the Opt-out requests would have to be imported. Please create the zip for the 'Benefit Employee Opt-out Requests' object along with the 'Benefit Enrollment Opt-out details' file containing the requisite information like enrollment ID, schedule period, opt-out request date, opt-out effective from, etc, and import.
