Symptom

On MaxDB server 7.9.10.04 a restore fails with similar error:
-8053 Software version is too old for version of persistent data 6, Data recovery failed Servertask info: because Error in backup task occurred Job 1 (Backup / Restore Medium Task) [executing] Waiting T60 Result=9230 Error in backup task occurred. Error code 9230 "software_too_old"
