Symptom

Story filter not applying to all widgets in a story based on link dimensions in SAC

Environment

SAP Analytic Cloud

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Login to SAP Analytic Cloud.
  2. Navigate to stories --> Responsive --> create a new story and add models ( Eg models : X, Y, Z)
  3. Create a link dimensions between models with common dimensions ( Eg: X <--> Y and X <--> Z)
  4. Add tables based on the models ( Eg : each table based on each models )
  5. Add a story filter based on any dimension which is common in all model.

Notice : The Filter is applicable only on 2 tables.

Cause

The filter is not based on the common model, that is used for the link dimensions.

  • By default the Data Source of the filter is based on default model.

When creating a filter ( whether at the story level or page level ) it is important to note that filters can only be applied to dimensions or measures from a single model. Additionally, when values are prompted, the list of available values is sourced exclusively from one model, even if multiple models are linked through a common field. 

Resolution

  1. When adding a filter, select the common model as the data source (use the model common to linked dimensions, e.g., X).
  2. Alternatively, create linked dimensions between all models (e.g., X <--> Y, X <--> Z, and Y <--> Z).
