3694896 - Profit Center Determination for Movement Type 658T in Advanced Intercompany Stock Transfer (5HP) Scenario

Symptom

The profit center in the journal entry for the outbound delivery posting (movement type 658T) in the Advanced Intercompany Stock Transfer (5HP) scenario is determined as the profit center of the delivering company code, rather than the profit center of the receiving company code.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Cause

This behavior is as designed, based on the ownership of the product and the transfer of ownership process. In the outbound delivery posting (GIIV), the profit center reflects the delivering company code because the product is still under its ownership.

Resolution

For the Advanced Intercompany Stock Transfer (5HP) scenario:

  1. Review the logic explained in the learning content "Exploring the Advanced Intercompany Stock Transfer (5HP) Scenario", which highlights:

    • Based on a transfer of ownership date in the outbound delivery, a background job automatically posts the transfer of ownership to ensure accurate financial postings.
    • The material is transferred from stock in transit at the supplying plant to stock in transit at the receiving plant.
  2. Refer to the demo "Transfer from Supplying Company's Stock in Transit to Receiving Company's Stock in Transit", which illustrates:

    • Two material documents are generated during the transfer of ownership process:
      • Post GI from Issuing SiT (GIIV): Profit center remains from the delivering company, as the ownership has not yet transferred.
      • Post Goods Receipt to Receiving SiT (GRRV): Ownership shifts to the receiving company, and the profit center reflects the receiving company code.
  3. Using the "Monitor Value Chain" App:

    • Once the transfer of ownership is executed, you can check the generated material documents using the "Monitor Value Chain" app.
    • In Step 20 of the demo, this app is used to verify the GIIV and the GRRV postings.

As per the scenario design:

  • For GIIV (outbound delivery posting), the profit center reflects the delivering company code.
  • For GRRV (goods receipt posting), the profit center represents the receiving company code.
