3695011 - SAP HANA installation or upgrade fails on RHEL 9.x with sapstartsrv startup errors, ports already in use and unix domain socket /tmp/.sapstream* errors

Symptom

During SAP HANA installation, upgrade or plugin deployment (for example AFL/APL), the process fails with one or more of the following errors:

  • Cannot create Instance
  • Cannot start sapstartsrv
  • Waiting for sapstartsrv failed: timeout reached
  • Tcp port ‘50013’ is already in use
  • Tcp port ‘50014’ is already in use
  • Cannot establish http connection to unix domain socket ‘/tmp/.sapstream5*’ (No such file or directory)
  • HDB start or stop returns “unauthorized” or permission related errors

In addition, customers may report that:

  • HANA processes restart automatically after being killed
  • The installation does not reach lifecycle management steps
  • The file sapsysinfo.zip is not generated under /tmp
