3695397 - Package export using the Content Network Storage fails with "OBJECT_NOT_FOUND" in SAP Analytics Cloud

Symptom

  • Upon using the Content Network Storage to export a package, the following error is observed:
"The export of <Package name> was not completed due to an error."
  • In System > Monitor > Trace:
    CONTENTMANAGER: {"packageId":"sap.fpa.services.resource.core","objectName":"message_system","messageId":"OBJECT_NOT_FOUND","args":["<Object type and ID>"],"message":"Object <Object type and ID> was not found or you do not have permissions to read it."}
  • Exporting models in SAP Analytics Cloud repeatedly fails.

Please consider everything between "<>" as a placeholder for the object type and ID.

Environment

  • SAP Analytics Cloud Enterprise 2025.14.14
  • SAP Analytics Cloud Content Network

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Transport > Export > New Export.
  2. Open and select the resources to be exported.
  3. Fill the required fields with any descriptive name and click Next
  4. Click export.
  5. Observe the error message displayed at the bottom of the screen.

Cause

The issue occurred because an object in SAP Analytics Cloud (for example, a dataset, model, or other content artifact) was deleted from the tenant but still referenced internally by other content or persisted metadata. The object was automatically selected as a dependency of one of the stories being selected for export.

In such cases, orphaned references to the deleted object remain in the system. For example, in internal database tables or embedded content relationships. During export using Content Network Storage, the system attempts to resolve these references. Because the object no longer exists or cannot be accessed, the export process fails with an OBJECT_NOT_FOUND error, even though the object is no longer visible in the SAC UI.

Resolution

The issue is resolved by removing the orphaned references to the deleted object from the system, ensuring that no embedded or internal dependencies remain.

If you encounter this issue:

  • Review recently deleted datasets, models, or other artifacts that may have been embedded or referenced by other content.
  • Ensure all dependent references are properly removed before attempting the export again.
  • If the object is no longer accessible through the UI but the error persists, contact create a ticket with SAP Technical Support under the LOD-ANA-ACN component to assist with identifying and cleaning up internal references.

An enhancement request is currently under analysis via the SAP Continuous Influence portal for improved auditing and visibility of embedded or referenced artifacts, enabling safer cleanup and lifecycle management.
