3695474 - Product Hierarchy Field Not Visible in Product Master apps

The Product Hierarchy field (MARA-PRDHA) is not visible in Product Master Apps (Create Material / Change Material) despite being activated in configuration. 

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition.

1. Create Product Hierarchies through "Manage Global Hierarchies" app.
2. Open MM02 Change Material app
3. Search and open a product
4. Navigate through Basic Data tab. 
5. Expect the "Product Hierarchy" field to be available for entry.
6. Field is not available.

Standard and designed system behavior to support standardization, governance, and multi-tenant compliance.

In SAP S/4HANA On-Premise, the Product Hierarchy field (MARA-PRDHA) was maintained directly in the material master.
In SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, however, the design is intentionally different:

• Materials themselves no longer carry the product hierarchy field.
• Product Hierarchies are managed separately in the Manage Product Hierarchies (F4359) app and linked to materials in a structured, version-based model.
• This allows for central governance, validity periods, and controlled assignments across sales org/distribution channels.

The official SAP Help Portal explains this behavior:

• "The assignment of a product must be unique in a product hierarchy version. Duplication of a product in a product hierarchy version is not allowed." - SAP Help Portal – Assigning Products to Product Hierarchies

This means that in Public Cloud, each material can only belong to one node per product hierarchy version.
The hierarchy is therefore maintained centrally, not on the material master record itself.

Summary of the difference:

• On-Premise: Product Hierarchy is a direct field in the material master (MM01/MM02).
• Public Cloud: Product Hierarchy is managed in its own Fiori app Manage Product Hierarchies (F4359), with version control and assignment rules, ensuring governance and preventing duplicates.
