Symptom

Long running time and error message "HTTP 500: A back-end error has caused the application to terminate." in the Transfer Deferred Tax app in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open the Transfer Deferred Tax (New) app
  2. Fill in relevant information and execute the process
  3. Observe the long loading time and termination of the application with an error message: "A back-end error has caused the application to terminate. Error message returned: HTTP 500.".

Cause

Too many items are being selected, leading to a timeout error.

Resolution

To process a large amount of documents, open the Schedule Tax Jobs app (F3690) and select Deferred Tax as a job template to run the Deferred Tax Transfer as a background job.
