3697141 - Required mandatory variables when enabling "Show unbooked members" in Analytic Model Preview

Symptom

  • The "Show unbooked members" option cannot be turned OFF from the variables screen unless all mandatory fields are filled.
  • The following warning message is displayed: "Please set values for all mandatory variables".
  • After filling in the required input fields and opening the input help, it becomes possible to use the "Show unbooked members" option.
  • Observable in HAR file "No values set for mandatory variable"
  • "Variable value is set even though a valuehelp is applied. : Value is set for Variable VAR_NAME even though the valuehelp is applied. So all values will be ignored."

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open the Analytic Model.
  2. Navigate to the Preview.
  3. Open the input help for a variable.
  4. Attempt to use the "Show unbooked members" flag.
  5. Observe the warning message: "Please set values for all mandatory variables".
  6. Fill in all mandatory input fields.
  7. Open the input help again and verify that the "Show unbooked members" option can now be used.

Cause

There is a technical limitation which requires mandatory variables for selecting the values from the underlying source.
For that reason a selection for only booked members without setting the variable is not possible.

Resolution

This works as designed, and the behavior is different compared to BW.
