3698276 - Dragging an entire folder in the Query Builder panel creates dimensions in Live Data models from BOE Universe in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

• When building a live data model in SAP Analytics Cloud from a BOE Universe, dragging an entire folder/class into the Selected Data area of the query builder can lead to automatic creation of hierarchies in the SAC model.
• These appear to users as “extra” or “empty” dimensions/hierarchies that were not explicitly requested.
• The hierarchies are not visible in the query panel and cannot be removed from the query panel.

Live data connection to SAP BusinessObjects BI Universes (UNX and UNV)

1. Login to SAC
2. Create a live data model in SAP Analytics Cloud.
3. Select a universe for the model.
4. Drag a folder into the "Selected Data" area in the query builder panel.
5. Confirm the query editor dialogue.

Notice : A dimension with the folder name is created in the model.

This is legacy behavior of the Universe-to-SAC integration. Drill paths defined in BOE Universes (UNX/UNV) are automatically transformed into SAC model hierarchies when a related dimension is selected. These transformed objects are implemented as model hierarchies (not query-level dimensions), which is why they are not visible or removable in the Query Editor. 

To prevent drill-path objects from appearing as dimensions in SAC, remove the drill path in the Universe. In Information Design Tool (IDT), change the drill path setting to Custom, delete the navigation path, and republish the Universe.

Be aware that removing or altering drill paths can affect Web Intelligence users who depend on drill functionality. If the drill path cannot be changed in the Universe, use SAC as a workaround by hiding the resulting hierarchy in the model.
