3698928 - Error: "Context SOURCE Can't Be Applied to Position" during workflow import via Configuration Transport Center

Error message "Context SOURCE can't be applied to Position" appears while transporting workflow in configure transport center.

SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite

1. Navigate to Configuration Transport Center.
2. Transport Requests > Imports.
3. Import the Transport Bundle ID.
4. Import completes with errors.
5. View the reports of the Transport Bundle ID, which indicate the error ''Context SOURCE can't be applied to Position".

The "Context SOURCE can't be applied to Position" error occurs due to a mismatch in configuration between the source and target instances. The source instance has the workflow step set to "Position", which directly transitions to the position step, making the context inapplicable.

To resolve this error message, review the options below:

• Approver Type: When the workflow is set to use "Position" as the approver type, it directly references the position hierarchy or structure. This means that any context-specific configurations that are based on the "SOURCE" might not be compatible with the "Position" setup.
• Workflow Configuration: Check the configuration of your workflow steps, both in the source and target instance. Ensure that the settings applied within the workflow are consistent and compatible with the "Position" approver type. 
• The documentation "Workflow Participation " and "Creating an Individual Workflow" contains information on setting up workflows with different approver types, including details on how to configure them correctly. Reviewing these resources could provide you with insights on how to adjust your workflow configuration to avoid this issue.
• Possible Adjustments: Consider adjusting elements in your workflow that are reliant on source context to be compatible with position-based approval. If certain context features are necessary, you might need to reconsider how they can be integrated or apply them differently.
